Project Manager Engineering Services

Job
Summary:

This position will report to the Engineering Services Manager and will be responsible for mechanical and process-related projects throughout the site with goals to improve safety, decrease costs, and improve productivity.
This person will be responsible to help implement the Painesville capital plan.

Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:

  • Act as project leader for a significant project workload, with responsibility for meeting the technical objectives of the project within the assigned budget, project reporting, and project closure.
  • Support other project engineers, area process engineers, maintenance, and environmental and safety groups.
  • Maintain a proficient working knowledge of the codes and standards that apply to the engineering discipline, including ASHRAE standards, NFPA, the ASME.
  • Review scope and work with operations to develop budget, work plan and start up plan.
  • Generate P&ID s, make process calculations to size required equipment, prepare equipment specifications for quotes, and make equipment selections for purchase.
  • Participate in the preparation of materials and services procurement documentation.
    Fulfill role as key contact with vendors to endure timely delivery of requested materials and services.
  • Manage/support construction activities as needed.
    Fulfill role as contact person for low frequency, on-demand contractors.
  • Ensure that projects can be supported after start-up.
  • Review code and engineering standards related to project design requirements.
  • Work with Operations Technology to develop training to support the project.
    Provide general training support to personnel, if required.
  • Troubleshoot plant equipment and systems.
    Propose modifications for existing processes upon direction of the superintendent.
  • Participate in plant safety functions including but not limited to PSSRs, PHAs, Ad Hocs, and Hazard Assessments.
  • Awareness of OSHA requirements related to equipment design, installation and operation.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Experience, and
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in chemical/mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a project management role, with an established track record of completing projects successfully in the engineering or construction fields.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and/or chemical processes; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • A working knowledge of Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations including OSHA and RCRA.
  • Good understanding of the design and operation of stationary equipment (pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping systems, relief devices), along with rotating equipment (centrifugal and positive displacement, pumps and compressors).
  • Capability of leading problem solving teams.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Make decisions independently on engineering problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.

Considered a Plus:

  • Experience with SAP and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with DeltaV instrument fieldbus networks such as Foundation Fieldbus, ASi, and DeviceNet.
  • Experience managing sublet architectural engineering suppliers as part of project execution.
  • Knowledge of electrical industrial codes and hazardous area classifications.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in the State of Ohio.
  • Maintain a proficient working knowledge Ohio Building Code.

Working Conditions:

  • Overhead lifting up to 10 pounds; lifting to waist up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires close, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Work is performed within a controlled environment; noise levels in some areas require hearing protection.
  • Willing/able to work in plant (inclement weather) as required.
  • Able to work in chemical processing areas.
  • Able to climb stairs and industrial fixed ladders.
    Potential to work at elevated heights and/or use of mechanical personnel lift equipment.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE.
