Phlebotomist / Lab Processor

Position Summary:
The Phlebotomy reports to the Supervisor of Laboratory Phlebotomy and is responsible for the procurement, labeling, processing and transport of laboratory specimens, with strong emphasis on patient satisfaction. Must be able register and order tests accurately in the computer system.
Essential Job functions:
Utilizes all computer systems as required to register a patient and place an order. Completes all clerical functions as necessary. Measured by quality metric for registration and order errors.Follows all patient safety guidelines, including the use of two patient identifiers. Uses appropriate PPE and complies with all personnel safety policies and procedures. Measured by patient satisfaction scores; the quality metric for specimen labeling errors; observations of compliance of use of appropriate PPE.
Follows standard work to appropriately collect all samples. References established policies and procedures to ensure quality of specimens meet best practice. Measured by low recollection rate.
Follows all guidelines for age appropriate care using policies and procedures as reference. Measured by age-appropriate care competency completion and lack of patient/family complaints.
Performs other job assignments as required.
Education and Experience:
Education: High School Diploma/GED
License/Certification: Phlebotomy certification, ASCP preferred. BLS Certification Required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
