JOB PURPOSE

Supports the finance department by verifying and completing payable and receivable transactions; collecting, reconciling, and summarizing information; entering data. Provide in house financials - income statement, balance sheet, general ledger, and all supporting documentation. Pays invoices; computes charges; prepares and mails invoices; maintains accounting ledgers and journal entries; prepares reports and graphs; verifies and prepares transactions; reconciles transactions; resolves discrepancies; maintains financial records and payroll. Also includes HR functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Prepares finance accounting work to be accomplished by gathering and sorting documents and related information.
Maintains subsidiary accounts by reconciling balances; preparing journal entries.
Maintains journal entries by entering and editing data.
Prepares special financial reports and graphs by collecting and summarizing account information and trends.
Completes financial transactions by verifying and correcting transaction information; scheduling and preparing transactions; obtaining authorizations.
Ensures account accuracy by reconciling transactions; investigating and resolving discrepancies; following policies and procedures; keeping information confidential.
Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
Maintains historical records by preparing, sorting, and filing documents.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Continuous improvement by recommending better ways of improving the process and/or products and services.
12. Other duties as required to meet job specifications.
HR related activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

BS/BA in related field and related experience.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Proficiency in using Excel or other applicable accounting and financial software to record or analyze financial information.
Exhibits meticulous attention to detail. Is committed to producing accurate and high-quality work.
Keys quantitative and qualitative data with speed and accuracy into the computer.
Can be trusted to handle extremely confidential and sensitive information.
Makes effective use of database, spreadsheet, and word-processing software to prepare statistical and written reports for management.
Competently analyzes and prioritizes information to make appropriate recommendations.
Speaks clearly and effectively in a variety of settings.
Works productively with others in a team environment.
Has effective organizational skills. Keeps files and work area organized.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
